The 2025 Milltek Civic Cup title fight travels to Norfolk for its next epic encounter

The heat is on in the chase for the Milltek Civic Cup championship title as the series heads to its penultimate round at Snetterton this weekend (13-14 September).

Just three points separate title rivals – and Area Motorsport team-mates – Alistair Camp and Liam McGill, with four races remaining. With 40 points on offer for winning each race, it could hardly be closer – and the pair have Lewis Kent breathing down their necks, ready to pounce on any slip-ups.

Camp is the experienced campaigner, a one-time champion who knows how to get a title win over the line. He’s been a model of consistency this year, never qualifying off the front row and finishing in the top four in every race except one, despite often having to grab his FN2 model Civic by the scruff of the neck to get the best out of it.

But it’s McGill who has momentum on his side, having dominated the past two race weekends at Croft and Oulton Park in his EP3 model – even though they may seem like a distant memory after the summer break! The Scottish charger may not have quite the level of Civic Cup experience as Camp, but he’s won plenty of titles elsewhere, so he isn’t lacking nous.

Kent, like McGill, is a four-time race winner in an EP3 and remains in contention despite missing a race for the impending birth of his first child. The Essex racer, another in the Area Motorsport camp, is a past winner at Snetterton, albeit back in his TCR UK days and on the shorter 200 layout rather than the three-mile 300 version in use this weekend.

Completing Area Motorsport’s power-packed line-up are Jake Hewlett, currently fourth in the points, and rising star Wesley Swain, who lies sixth in the standings and second of the FN2s.

While the EP3 remains numerically dominant, Dave Marshall has been a long-time exponent of the FN2. He won at Silverstone earlier this year and lies seventh in the points. Marshall’s DMR with KA Car Sales squad also runs cars for Mark Hughes and Harry England. Hughes’s main focus is defending the Goodyear Diamond Award, for drivers aged 40 and over, which he won last year. He currently lies second despite skipping the races at Oulton Park.

Teenager England had his best weekend yet last time out, finishing ninth overall in the second race, and is sixth in the Paul Winfield Trophy standings for rookies and other less experienced drivers.

Daniel Petters is another who recorded his best-ever Civic Cup result at Oulton Park in July. The Team Petters Racing man, another new father in the paddock, was a whisker away from claiming a maiden victory but was still delighted to finish second. The result lifted him to ninth in the standings, just ahead of younger brother – and team-mate – Jamie Petters. The pair are also strong contenders in the Paul Winfield Trophy where they lie in equal second, 26 points off the summit.

MJB Motorsport’s Jack Ruddell has set the PWT pace for most of the season, also recording a maiden overall victory at Brands Hatch back in April. The young gun is looking to bounce back from a tough event at Oulton Park where a qualifying crash put him out for the weekend.

Previous 2025 PWT race winners Josh Bromley (Bromley Motorsport) and Francisco Howitt (Vinna Sport) will be out to add to their win tally this season as they head to the Norfolk venue this weekend.

Ben Sharpe Racing duo Jake Renshaw and Aidan Mitchell are another pair of young chargers who have made rapid strides in their first seasons in the Milltek Civic Cup. A lack of consistency and some wretched luck has so far prevented any headline results but both have shown themselves capable of podium pace, which is what they’ll be aiming for this weekend.

BSR also welcomes back Spencer Stevenson for his first outing of the year after a terrific debut campaign in 2024, where he secured the Paul Winfield Trophy.

The BSR expands to five cars this weekend as both Anthony Gannon, who returns after skipping the last round, and Charlie Constable join the Northamptonshire-based team.

Adam Parker (ADS1928 Racing) is another driver who’s had a bumpy ride in his first season in one of UK motorsport’s most competitive one-make championships. But Parker has shown enough pace to prove he has plenty of potential.

Charlotte Birch (Vinna Sport) and Ben Bateman (MWB Motorsport) achieved their best Milltek Civic Cup results in the last race at Oulton Park, which should give them confidence heading to Norfolk.

Conversely, Will Butt (Buttsy with Detail Car Care Racing) had a tough weekend in Cheshire, so he will aim to recapture the form that took him to a top-10 finish in the previous event at Croft, whilst stalwart privateer Sam Nicolaou returns to continue his 2025 campaign.

The cars from the Milltek Civic Cup – TCR UK’s official feeder series – will be on track from 1030hrs on Saturday (13 September) for their Qualifying session. That will determine the grid for Round 14 of the championship, which takes place later the same day at 1720hrs.

Round 15 of the championship is the weekend’s reversed-grid race – always a recipe for action and drama – and is scheduled to start at 1200hrs on Sunday (14 September).

Why not make the journey to the historic Snetterton circuit and enjoy the racing live? TCR UK and the British Truck Racing Championship will also be in action over the weekend.

But if you can’t make it in person, we’ve still got you covered – all the action will be screened live on the BARC YouTube channel.
