Vinna Sport have announced an exciting merger with SVG Motorsport as they prepare for the 2025 season finale at Brands Hatch.
Vinna Sport joined the Milltek Civic Cup in 2023, providing the opportunity for Charlotte Birch to make her debut, before expanding to a two-car effort this year, with Francisco Howitt joining the team.
Now running under the SVG Motorsport banner going forward, the team have exciting plans for 2026, alongside their established Civic Cup and Ginetta Junior Programs and current GT activities.
Andy Johnson has been announced as Managing Director, whilst Russell Birch from Vinna Sport steps into the role of Director of Motorsport Development.
Andy is excited about this development and the new directions the team is exploring.
“This merger is great news for the team. The twin-pronged assault into both the GT and now Touring Car routes goes some way to secure stability for the team in what can be a turbulent industry,” said Andy.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Russell and his guys, pushing for results in the exciting world of Civic Cup and Touring Car racing, as well as our continued support, as always, to Ginetta Cars and the fantastic GT championships that we already compete in. I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
Russell spoke about the merger and the exciting future of the team.
“This merger is great news for both teams. Andy and I have known each other and have been close friends for over thirty years now, and during this time we have often spoken about doing something together in the motorsport industry, but our circumstances have never quite aligned,” explained Russell.
“We both feel now, the timing is right, and we’re very excited about the future opportunities that lie ahead with the plans we have in place.”
Championship Manager Jack Finlan welcomes the news about the merger between Vinna Sport and SVG Motorsport.
“I’m very pleased to see the announcement of this merger. Vinna Sport have been a strong supporter of the Civic Cup since they joined, bringing new talent on board,” explained Jack.
“This news shows their continued faith in the Civic Cup. I welcome the new look SVG Motorsport to the Civic Cup paddock and look forward to the announcement of their 2026 plans.”
