David Walsh will make the step up to the Milltek Civic Cup next season, as he continues with Motion Motorsport for the 2026 campaign.
Walsh will compete in an EP3 Honda Civic run by Motion Motorsport, marking his move into the Civic Cup after gaining experience across multiple championships. The 2026 season represents a new chapter for both driver and team as they evolve to a multi-car entry as preparations continue ahead of the New Year.
The move follows a strong racing background for Walsh, who previously competed in the Clio Sport championship during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, before contesting the Hot Hatch championship in 2024. He then transitioned into Honda machinery, purchasing a Type R Trophy EP3, where he first joined Motion Motorsport.
Competing in the Type R Trophy towards the end of the 2024 season, Walsh finished as a top-five runner before continuing with Motion Motorsport into the 2025 Type R Trophy campaign. During the season, he claimed multiple podiums and even race wins, and ended the season 3rd overall in the championship.
Preparations for the 2026 Civic Cup season are already underway, with a testing programme planned post-New Year. The EP3 Civic is currently undergoing a full rebuild with Motion Motorsport, with early back-to-back testing producing lap times close to established benchmarks.
“I’m really happy with the car and the progress we’ve made so far,” said Walsh. “The testing we’ve completed has been positive, and the focus now is on maximising seat time and my goal for the season is to work my way in, be consistent and establish myself in the top half of the pack as the year goes on.”
Championship Manager Jack Finlan welcomes Walsh to the championship grid and is looking forward to seeing him get his campaign underway.
