Cup class and Production class title contenders dominate free practice sessions at Snetterton

With four Free Practice Sessions taking place over the first day of action at Snetterton in Norfolk for the final weekend of the 2021 Milltek Sport Civic Cup, each session was topped by title contenders from both classes as both Jamie Tonks and Alfie Threlfall made their intentions clear.

With FP1 seeing fourteen cars out of the twenty-six cars entered for the weekend, it was Matt Luff who took the honours of topping the session, which saw one red flag come out before Luff ended the session ahead of Cup class points leader Alistair Camp, as Ben Sharpe, Morgan Bailey and George Alp Williams completed the top five.

In the Production class, it was an all Threlfall affair as Harry set the fastest time ahead of points leader Alfie.

FP2 was the first of two sessions to be headed by Tonks and Alfie Threlfall in their respective classes, with Tonks leading the way ahead of Sharpe, Ryan Bensley and Dave Buky, who ended the session ahead of Camp in sixth place.

Alfie Threlfall was the faster of the two Production entries out on track, ahead of Harry Threlfall.

Tonks kept up his front running pace in FP3, going nearly three seconds faster than his FP2 time as Camp, Luff, Bailey all set times in the top five that were within half a second.

Alfie Threlfall was the fastest Production class runner in Fp3, this time setting the best time ahead of class title rival Mervyn Beckett as more of the class drivers set times in the same session. David Marshall, Edward Sibbald and Harry Threlfall completed the top five.

The final practice session took place on Saturday afternoon where George Alp-Williams was fastest in the Cup class ahead of Philip Wright with several of the title contenders lower down the order as Ryan Bensley, Max Edmundson completed the top five.

Production Class title challenger Mervyn Beckett was the fastest in class with Harry Threlfall in second ahead of Edward Sibbald, Mark Hughes and Matthew Stenning.
