Organisers of the Milltek Sport Civic Cup are pleased to announce plans for 2022, with a calendar that comprises 16 rounds at seven meetings. Featuring two-triple and five double-headers, the 11th consecutive running of this highly competitive championship is set to provide drivers and teams with one of their busiest seasons yet.
Following the success of 2021, which brought with it a change of administrating club, large grids, close racing, TV coverage and spectator attendance figures that surpassed those of any other club-level events, organisers intend to build on these achievements to offer competitors an even more attractive, value-for-money package in 2022.
“We are delighted to be able to announce our plans for 2022 and continue from where we left off this year”, explains Championship Manager Stewart Lines.
“The association that began last year with Club Time Attack worked really well, with many of the events supported by an established car show, which attracted high spectator numbers and in doing so, created greater public exposure for the championship. We’re now able to build on this high profile format and in doing so, hope to further increase the size of the grids. Therefore, 2022 is shaping up to be an even more exciting season!”
Next year’s season kicks off at Cadwell Park in May and concludes five months and three weeks later at Snetterton in October. Each meeting features a 15-minute Free Practice and Qualifying session followed by two or three 15-minute races.
Once again, the championship will feature two classes: the Cup Class, for EP3, FN2 and FK models manufactured between 2001 and 2011 with a limited number of modifications permitted; and the Production Class, for EP3 and FN2 Type-R models manufactured between 2001 and 2005. In all cases, cars must be fitted with Honda’s 2-litre K-Series engine and retain many of the standard OE components. Only controlled performance parts may be fitted. Consequently, costs are kept to a minimum and competition remains close throughout the season. With overall competitor numbers dictated by maximum track limits, organisers suggest that competitors register their interest as soon as possible. Further details will be announced over the coming weeks.2022 Calendar (provisional)
