Former sim racer Dan MacDonald will make his real-world motorsport debut when he gets behind the wheel of a Kinetic Motorsport Cup Class EP3 Honda Civic for a season in this year’s Milltek Sport Civic Cup.
20-year-old Dan was able to get to grips with his car for the first time during the recent pre-season test and media event at Brands Hatch, where he enjoyed both a learning and positive day.
Currently competing online in the iRacing Porsche Esports Carrera Cup GB, Dan is looking forward to making the jump from virtual to actual and hopes that he can transfer his skills in front of a video screen to those he’ll need behind a windscreen.
“I’m really excited to begin my real-world racing career in the Civic Cup and with Kinetic Motorsport, a team that has so much experience in the championship”, said Dan.
“Everything feels very new to me, although I’m pleased to say that I had a very positive day at the pre-season test and was able to gain a lot of confidence in the car.
“Apart from on the sim, I haven’t driven many of the tracks we’ll be visiting this season, so this year is going to be a massive learning curve for me.
“In what is a very competitive championship and taking into account my lack of experience, I’m hoping to have a good start to the season at Cadwell Park and then carry on learning and improving from there.”
Kinetic Motorsport Team Director Dave Bukey is proud to welcome Dan on board for the 2022 season:
“Having experience of both real life racing and virtual racing I can definitely say there are similarities. Dan is very experienced on the sim and has shown great pace in his first two tests in the EP3 proving that sim to real life really does work! We look forward to working with Dan throughout the year and developing his real life racing skills on track.”
