Danny Hobson becomes the latest driver to sign up for the title-winning Area Motorsport squad as he makes his return to the Milltek Sport Civic Cup.

Danny joins the already-announced Louie Capozzoli and Max Edmundson ahead of the new season, the chance to be able to go racing on his own terms too good to miss.

Having previously competed in the Civic Cup back in 2018 and also running his own customer racing programme, Danny is excited to get back to racing on his own terms where he can go out and fight for honours himself.

With Danny having against the Rob Baker-led squad back in 2018 as well, this year offers a chance to see how competitive he is against the current crop of Cup Class drivers and teams.

“I’ve joined the Civic Cup because it’s where I have previously raced and I want to race in a championship without affecting my own customer’s results,” explained Danny.

“DH Racing run a successful civic team elsewhere, so this knowledge along with running with Area Motorsport will allow me to focus on racing the car and enjoying it myself, knowing I’ve got the right team behind me with the goal of competing for the championship title.”

Rob Baker is happy to have Danny back in the squad and looks forward to seeing him hit the ground running on his return.

“We’re looking forward to Danny being involved with us in Civic Cup this year. Having raced against him in 2018 he was a formidable competitor and without some bad luck would of been in the championship fight right down to the end,” said Rob.

“With Danny having a heavy program of racing with customers in other programs whilst wanting to race himself it’ll work perfectly for us and him in Civic Cup this season, where he can focus on his racing, and we can focus on making him and his car as fast as possible. His behind-the-seat experience will help many new drivers we have this year and I’m positive he can hit the ground running.”
