Two-time TCR UK Champion to make Milltek Sport Civic Cup debut at Silverstone

The entry list for rounds 13, 14 & 15 of the 2023 Milltek Sport Civic Cup sees a new addition to the grid as Two-time TCR UK Touring Car Champion Lewis Kent makes his debut at Silverstone.

The former Hyundai Motorsport Junior Driver is known for his exploits in TCR UK having taken the title in both 2020 and 2021.

Whilst 2023 has been about supporting current Hyundai Motorsport Junior Driver and brother Bradley in the family-run Hyundai Veloster, Lewis is eager to get back on the grid and go racing.

After agreeing on a deal with Area Motorsport to drive the 2022 title-winning car driver by then champion Matt Luff, which also saw a win at the hands of Liam McGill at Knockhill earlier this year, the two-time champion is looking to enjoy his outing at the end of September.

The title battle for this year’s Milltek Sport Civic Cup is incredibly close, as the EP3s and FN2s make their return to the Silverstone National circuit for the first time since 2020.

With plenty of action already at each of the previous five venues this year, Lewis is ready to go out and get in the mix as he gets behind the wheel again.

“I’m excited to be getting back on track and racing again, as this year has been more about supporting Brad in his efforts in TCR UK, as well as driver training with some of the young drivers in the Fiesta Junior championship. However, as a racing driver, you never lose that will to want to be out on track racing when you can.

“The Civic Cup has always provided great on-track action and I can’t wait to be in amongst the field to see how I go. Driving the 2022 title-winning Honda run by Rob Baker and the Area Motorsport team means that I’m in good hands and can hit the ground running.”

Area Motorsport Team Principal Rob Baker is excited to have Lewis on board and to see how he does on his Civic Cup debut.

“Having a multiple TCR UK champion with the Team is a exciting prospect and I’m sure he will get up to speed quickly with the help of our other Cup Car Drivers. The aim for Lewis being to have some close competitive racing that he’s been missing for the first time this year after having a year out of TCR UK.

“He will be driving Matt Luffs Championship winning car that has been in many hands this year including a victory and number of fastest laps at Knockhill last time out.”

Lewis’s entry with Area Motorsport will be supported by Essex Bodies Ltd and LJK Coaching, competing at Silverstone on Saturday 30th September.
