Sam Kirkpatrick will make his full-season debut in this year’s Milltek Sport Civic Cup season, re-uniting with Area Motorsport.
Having competed at three events last year (Croft, Knockhill and Silverstone), Sam finished the season in tenth place in the overall drivers’ points standings.
This is due to his impressive results, which include his maiden race win in the second race at Silverstone, a third-place finish in the second race at Knockhill and taking a fourth-place finish in the second race at Croft, which was his first race weekend in the championship.
The Cumbrian-based driver now returns to take on his first full season in the Civic Cup, staying on board with Rob Bakers successful Area Motorsport team, who took the 2023 Drivers title with Max Edmundson.
Sam is already experienced in winning titles in previous championships, adding the 2021 MG Trophy to his CV as well as taking multiple wins in previous seasons of historic racing.
With three events from the 2023 season now under his belt and once more driving an EP3 Civic, Sam is looking forward to the full-season challenge of the Civic Cup this year, driving for a team he is familiar with.
“I’m looking forward to doing a full season after a some promising races last year and will be hoping to improve on that. I’m also very excited to be part of Area Motorsport again, we’ve got a really strong team of drivers and it’ll be a good opportunity to learn some new things,” said Sam.
Rob Baker, Team Principal for Area Motorsport, is excited to see how Sam improves after his part season campaign last year.
“Sam joined us for a single round at Croft last year and impressed straight away. Even though that was ment to be Sam’s only outing of the year he ended up completing two more rounds in 2023 and even taking a win at Silverstone which was fantastic to see,” explained Rob.
“Now with us for a full season campaign he’ll be looking to only improve further and we’re confident in Sam’s ability to do so.”
