Edmundson returns to defend 2023 Milltek Sport Civic Cup title with Area Motorsport

2023 Milltek Sport Civic Cup Champion Max Edmundson will be back in 2024 to defend his title, staying with the ultra-successful Area Motorsport squad.

Max, who also sealed the Paul Winfield Trophy for Rookies last season, will proudly carry the number 1 on his Area Motorsport run Civic EP3 for the new season.

The County Durham-based driver had a difficult start to his season, before settling down and maturing quickly into a race-winning Civic Cup driver, getting his maiden win at Knockhill in the final race of the weekend.

That win was the first of a total of four wins, with two of those taken in the Brands Hatch Finale back in October after title rival Dan Thackeray suffered an engine failure. A further seven visits to the podium during the seventeen-race season added to his title win.

Staying with Area Motorsport for 2024 and sticking with the EP3 Civic, Max will defend his title in the close and competitive nature of the Milltek Sport Civic Cup, which has seen four different drivers win the title since 2020.

Starting the season at Brands Hatch, using the Indy circuit where Max secured his title last season, on April 13-14, the Area Motorsport driver is eager to get his title defence underway.

“After the success from last year, I’m excited to be returning to retain my title with Area Motorsport, the team that led me to the 2023 Milltek Sport Civic Cup title,” said Max

“The team have returned for the 2024 season with an incredible line-up of drivers, who will push me to go even better then last season and go for the double.”

Rob Baker, Team Principal for Area Motorsport, is delighted to see Max stay on with the team as he defends his title in 2024.

“As a team, we are really pleased to have Max back with us for the 2024 season, after his championship win last year. We assessed some options for Max to change into for this season but decided that the Milltek Sport Civic Cup is the most competitive place for him to race again this season,” said Rob.

“As always Milltek Sport Civic Cup presents a challenge and we’re confident Max will be straight up the sharp end once again after our first team test of the year today!”
