Stage rally specialist Trevor McConnell will switch disciplines when he makes his debut in this year’s Milltek Sport Civic Cup Championship with his McConnell Motorsport outfit.
Entering with the ex-Morgan Bailey car for his maiden season, Trevor is already a proven class winner in stage rallying from previous years, where he also has the 2000 British Quad Supermoto title to his impressive resume.
Having tried out a Ben Sharpe Racing run Civic EP3 during last year’s BRSCC Driven by Racing Exhibition, this was enough for the County Donegal-based driver to make the switch to circuit racing for the first time in his motorsport career.
The 2024 season gets underway at Brands Hatch, using the Indy circuit, on April 13-14, with Trevor eager to get racing in one of the most competitive and close championships in UK Club Motorsport.
“After a successful run in the Ben Sharpe Racing EP3 at the 2023 BRSCC Driven by Racing Exhibition in November my mind was made up that the Civic Cup was a championship I wanted to compete in for the 2024 season. Soon after the ex-Morgan Bailey car was secured and a recent track day at Brands Hatch confirmed how fun the Civic is to drive,” explained Trevor.
“This is certainly going to be a new challenge for me as most of my racing career has been competing in stage rallies however running under my own team, McConnell Motorsport, I am hoping to get some respectable results in my debut season, and I am looking forward to the close racing and competitiveness of this championship.”
Trevor’s Civic Cup entry is supported by: McConnell Motorsport, Contract Ground Services, iHeating & Cooling, Bonar’s Quarry, T.Gray Groundworks Ltd & Eakin Bros Car Dealership.
