Scott Smith set for 2024 debut as “Lightning McQueen” joins the Milltek Sport Civic Cup Grid

Scott Smith is the latest driver to announce his debut in this year’s Milltek Sport Civic Cup, joining the grid in his DH Racing run “Lightning McQueen” liveried Civic EP3.

The Suffolk-based driver is one of a large number of drivers making their debut in the championship this year and “Lightning McQueen” will be one of the most recognizable EP3s at race weekends this season.

Having begun his racing career in Banger Racing on many of the UK’s oval tracks, Scott then moved into circuit racing, tackling the Clio 182 championship, before moving on to race in the 750 Motor Club Hot Hatch Championship.

Despite learning his craft in class racing, Scott is excited to make the move into the Civic Cup this year, with Danny Hobson running the car for the EP3 driver this year.

Hobson himself drove in the 2023 Civic Cup season, where he took a podium finish in the Goodyear Diamond Award at Oulton Park.

Scott, a self-confessed petrol head, will be using the same Civic that Oliver Barsby used in the championship previously. The Suffolk-based driver will be out testing this week at Snetterton and is very grateful for the support he has received.

“I can’t thank my supporters enough, especially my father and brother from Vehicle Paintwork Specialists, who have worked so hard to get the Civic ready for this year. I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel this week and seeing what I can do in testing,” explained Scott.

“As its my first year in the Milltek Sport Civic Cup, I’m looking to settle in and get used to the racing and how the championship works. There are a lot of experienced fast drivers involved, but as the 2022 Snetterton finale proved, anything can happen! I’ll be happy to be racing in the mid-pack as I look to move up the grid in future seasons.”

Scott’s entry is supported by:
Smith Cars, Vehicle Paintwork Specialists, DH Racing, KETTS Auto Paints and C&D Motor Servicing
