Reigning Type R Trophy champion Matt Wilkins will make his debut in the 2025 Milltek Sport Civic Cup.
Teaming up with proven Civic Cup race winners Motion Motorsport, he will drive an EP3 in his debut season, a car Matt is already familiar with.
Having begun his early racing career in Motocross, Matt then moved to compete part-time in the Stock Hatch Championship in 2005.
Returning to racing in 2022, Matt took part in the BMW Compact Cup, where he finished the season in 4th place overall. The Type R Trophy was next, where Matt would finish the 2023 season in second place overall before going one better and being crowned as the 2024 Type R Trophy champion.
Seeing the Civic Cup as the next step up the ladder, Matt has already tested the car and has more testing sessions planned for the new year.
Already aware of how competitive the championship is, which gets underway at Donington Park on 22-23 March, Matt knows his first season will be challenging, however he has a plan.
“I’ve been watching the Milltek Sport Civic Cup for several years now, and I know that it’s a highly competitive championship to be in. There’s a lot of hard work ahead as I get to grips with the car,” says Matt.
“I’m looking to start the year with some top-ten finishes. Once I’m more familiar with how the field is and the car itself, I hope to round out the season with some podium finishes.”
Championship Promoter Stewart Lines is pleased to see Matt come on board as the first brand-new driver of the 2025 season.
“It’s always good to see brand new drivers move up to the championship, showcasing the exciting product that it has to offer. Matt has plenty of experience, so it will be interesting to see how he goes next season,” explained Stewart.
Matt’s entry is backed by Motion Motorsport and Bimecc UK, with a livery reveal planned to take place before the start of the season.
