The heat is on for the Milltek Civic Cup as Croft awaits

The Milltek Civic Cup speeds into Croft this weekend (14-15 June), where the action always comes thick and fast at the high-speed North Yorkshire venue.

A busy grid of 230-plus bhp Honda Civics never disappoints with their action-packed, close-but-fair racing. And it’s a triple-header of thrills this weekend as the official TCR UK feeder series has two races on Saturday and another on Sunday.

Alistair Camp heads into the weekend at the top of the points standings after taking his turn on all three steps of the podium at Silverstone last time out. The Area Motorsport driver has his FN2 model Civic well sorted, but whether it will have enough stability through Croft’s daunting high-speed flicks remains to be seen as he guns for a fourth consecutive pole position on Saturday morning.

Leading the chase, after dropped scores are allowed for, is Lewis Kent. The Essex racer, a two-time TCR UK champion, also runs from the Area Motorsport awning but drives the more common EP3 model Civic. Kent will aim to continue his run of winning at every race weekend so far this year.

Liam McGill is the Area squad’s third 2025 race winner, while getting closer and closer to a maiden Civic Cup win is teenage star Wesley Swain (who, like Camp, drives an FN2).

Croft was the scene of Harvey Caton‘s first podium finish back in 2023, and he’ll be looking to get back on terms after a difficult weekend at Silverstone. Type R Trophy champion Jake Hewlett, with two podiums to his name, is another from the team knocking on the door of a first win.

Croft is the home race for the highest non-Area Motorsport driver in the standings, Dave Marshall. The DMR with KA Car Spares driver scored his first win for a couple of years last time out so will arrive on home ground brimming with confidence. The County Durham driver will also be kept busy tending to the similar FN2s of young gun Harry England and Mark Hughes, who is one of the main contenders in the Goodyear Diamond Award (for drivers aged 40 and over).

Completing the list of winners so far in 2025 is teen star Jack Ruddell. The MJB Motorsport driver scored his maiden win at Brands Hatch in April and will be aiming for more at a circuit where he went well last year.

Ruddell currently holds a commanding lead in the Paul Winfield Trophy standings for rookies and other less-experienced drivers.  Other leading PWT contenders include the Petters brothers, Daniel and Jamie. Driving for the family Petters Team Racing outfit, the Cambridgeshire lads have strong pace and racecraft but sometimes lack that little bit of luck.

Other rising stars to look out for include Ben Sharpe Racing pair Jake Renshaw and Aidan Mitchell, Vinna Sport duo Francisco Howitt and Charlotte Birch, and Orex Competition’s Charlie Constable.

From the privateer ranks, Adam Parker will aim to recapture his early-season form. Ben Bateman is another first-season driver adapting to the ultra-competitive nature of the championship. Milltek Civic Cup stalwarts Sam Nicolaou and Will Butt will surely be in the thick of the fight to make the top 10 in race one and benefit from race two’s reversed grid.

Former MG racers Adam Jackson and Graham Ross should be among the Goodyear Diamond Award frontrunners as they get to grips with their FN2s. Further competition comes from EP3-mounted Anthony Gannon and Simon Welch.

A very busy Saturday starts with Qualifying at 10:25hrs. Round 9 of the championship takes place straight after lunch at 14:00hrs. There’s a quick turnaround for the reversed-grid race (Round 10) at 16:45hrs. A more relaxed schedule on Sunday features the weekend finale, timetabled for 13:45hrs.

For those unable to attend the racing in person, all the action will be streamed live, with expert commentary and analysis, on TCR UK’s YouTube channel.
