The Milltek Civic Cup heads to Cheshire for a party at Oulton Park

The Milltek Civic Cup returns to action at Oulton Park this weekend with two races at the popular Cheshire venue on Saturday (5 July).

With nearly two-thirds of the season complete, this weekend’s contests could be crucial to the title destiny. And with all the action condensed into a single day, the competition will be as intense as ever.

Realistically, the overall title chase has become an intra-team battle at Area Motorsport. One-time champion Alistair Camp still leads the way with an incredible run of consistency in his FN2 model Civic. Camp has only finished off the podium twice in 11 races to date – and both of those were fourth positions! He’s also yet to qualify outside the top two all year.

Liam McGill heads the chase in his well-proven EP3 model. The Scotsman scents blood after a terrific showing last time out at Croft, his closest round to home. Pole position, two wins, three fastest laps and a third position brought a bumper points haul that leaves McGill just a dozen shy of his team-mate in the standings.

Lewis Kent is clinging onto the lead pair’s coat-tails but needs a strong event at Oulton Park to keep up the pressure. Kent skipped the final race at Croft to join his heavily pregnant partner. He now has no dropped scores to fall back on, so can’t afford any slip-ups. Oulton Park is not his favourite venue, but the birth of his son is bound to have given him added motivation.

Jake Hewlett arrives in Cheshire with momentum on his side after a couple of strong drives to the podium. Conversely, Harvey Caton and Wesley Swain – in Area’s second FN2 – both endured a tough weekend last time out which they’ll be keen to put behind them.

Dave Marshall has been gathering momentum in his DMR with KA Car Spares FN2 as the season’s worn on. The talented owner-driver is always in the mix and will, as ever, be one to watch.

Others likely to feature towards the front of the field include one-time race winner Jack Ruddell (MJB Motorsport) and fellow teen stars Jake Renshaw and Aidan Mitchell, who both operate from the Ben Sharpe Racing awning.

Ruddell leads the way in the Paul Winfield Trophy for rookies and other less-experienced drivers. Renshaw and Mitchell have been on upward trajectories in their debut season, putting in impressive drives – Jake has now recorded top-10 finishes in five of the past six races while Aidan had his best points return yet last time out.

Also increasingly impressive are the Petters brothers, Jamie and Daniel, who now lie 10th and 11th in the standings – and joint second in the PWT. Both recorded top-six finishes last month. The next target for the family-run Team Petters Racing duo will be to get on the podium.

Privateer Adam Parker was one of a few drivers to suffer driveshaft failure at the mechanically arduous Croft circuit, but bounced back to match his best result of the season in the finale. Fellow privateers Will Butt and Ben Bateman, as well as Harry England (DMR) and Charlotte Birch (Vinna Sport) should also be full of confidence after scoring their best results yet.

In the Goodyear Diamond Award, for drivers aged 40 and over, Adam Jackson (AMW Motorsport) leads the way and will be aiming to increase his advantage this weekend.

Saturday’s busy schedule begins with an early start for qualifying at 09:00hrs. Round 12 of the 2025 Milltek Civic Cup then takes place later that morning at 11:45hrs. After a quick rest and a bite to eat, the drivers will be back at the wheel in their reversed-grid race, Round 13 of the championship at 15:30hrs.

Join us trackside if you can. But, if you’re unable to make it, fear not: all the action will be streamed live on the TCR UK’s YouTube channel.
