Two-time Civic Cup champion Max Edmundson has announced his return to the championship for 2026, where he will take part in the Thruxton event on 16-17 May.
Returning to Area Motorsport, the team he drove for previously, for this one-off entry, Max is already known for his dominating performances that netted both titles in 2023 & 2024.
Fighting the likes of Alistair Camp and Dan Thackeray, Max sealed the 2023 title in the season finale at Brands Hatch, before holding off former TCR champions Lewis Kent and Josh Files to win the title for a second time twelve months later at Silverstone.
The double champion will add his entry to the full-time 2026 driver lineup, which includes 2021 Champion Alistair Camp, Wesley Swain, Sean McGovern, Francisco Howitt and Charlie Budd, as they prepare to take on the fastest circuit in the UK in just over two weeks’ time.
Having moved to the Mini Challenge for 2025, the Durham-based driver is returning to a venue where he took both race wins in 2024.
The 2026 meeting offers three races and three chances to get on the podium. For Max, his return is about coming back for some fun and enjoying his racing.
“It will be good to get back out with Area Motorsport in the Civic Cup. I had lots of success in this championship in 2023 & 2024, winning back-to-back titles. But this time I’m back for a little bit of fun,” explained Max.
Championship Manager Jack Finlan is delighted to see Max announce his entry for the Thruxton event, as the two-time champ makes his return.
“Seeing Max announce his return to the Civic Cup is great news for the championship and shows the attraction it has, especially as we make our return to Thruxton after a year away. Max set the bar high during his time in the series, and with such a competitive grid this year, he will be adding another exciting element to the next three races,” explained Jack.
“When we announced the 2026 Calendar, the addition of Thruxton was a big motivator for many of the drivers and teams taking part this year. The Championship will be in action at one of the largest events of the year for the Hampshire circuit, and I can’t wait to see what Max can do against the current field in just over two weeks’ time.”
