Jake Hewlett returns to the Civic Cup for season two in self-run team

Jake Hewlett has confirmed his entry in what is turning out to be a bumper Civic Cup field for the 2026 season, returning in his own team.

Jake will run under the Jake Hewlett Racing banner, where he will be driving an EP3 Civic, supported by loyal backers Mill Street Motors and Europa Crash Centre.

2025 was Jake’s debut season in the Civic Cup, where driving for Area Motorsport, he was a regular contender for top five finishes, as well as taking five podium finishes. The Leicestershire based driver finished the season in sixth place in the final driver standings.

For 2026, running his own outfit, Jake and his squad have been working hard over the winter to prepare the car for the new season. With each on track session that he has take part in, Hewlett is finding more and more out about the EP3 as they work to improve the car further.

With Brands Hatch as the opening weekend for the 2026 season, a circuit where Jake took three of his five podium finishes last year across two visits, it’s a venue that bodes well for him.

With plenty of hard work as the clock counts down the Easter weekend season opener, Jake is very clear about his aims for 2026.

“I’ve taken on a whole new challenge as I come back to the Civic Cup for my second straight season, this time transitioning to running my own team as Jake Hewlett Racing. My first season in the championship was a real eye-opening experience, being a regular front runner and picking up podium finishes as I learned a lot,” said Jake.

“This year is a brand-new ball game for me, where I’m the running the team as well as driving the car, so I’m wearing more than one cap at each race weekend. We’ve been working hard on the car during the off season, sorting out any issues that we’ve come across and making sure that the car will be ready for Brands Hatch. I’m looking to continue fighting at the front and challenging for more podium finishes.”

Championship Manager Jack Finlan is pleased to see Jake confirm his return to the Civic Cup grid for 2026, as part of what is the biggest entry in the championship’s history.

“Seeing Jake return to the Civic Cup after an exciting first season for him is great to see, especially as he has now taken on the challenge of running his own team. The championship thrives on having many driver/team owners taking part and shows the attractiveness that the Civic Cup is known for,” explained Jack.

“2026 is already a huge year for the Civic Cup as we prepare to witness what is our biggest grid so far in championship history. This shows proving how accessible, competitive and friendly the championship is, with more new entries joining what is already recognised as the toughest one make tin top series in the UK. Bring on Brands Hatch.”
